读到一句话，难以理解：
Babies of two months old do not appear to be reluctant to enter the water.
It is not long before they are so accustomed to swimming that they can pick up weights from the floor of the pool.
原书的参考译文如下：
两个月的婴儿并末显得不愿意入水。
他们很快便适应了游泳，以致能捡起池底的物品。 //他们很快便适应了游泳？？？

依俺的理解，原文中老外想说的意思应该是这样：
只是很短时间，在孩子们适应学会游泳之前，他们就能捡起池底的物品。
//还没有适应游泳，就会潜水捡东西了？老外的说话逻辑一定是有毛病？

直译：他们可以把他们的体重从池底提上来
就是说，他们可以不再依靠池底的支撑，通过凫水来使他们的身体腾空
