Moblin项目委员会宣布了Moblin 2.1正式版的完成，虽然Intel表示Moblin 2.1只是在9月底发布的Moblin2.0版本的升级版本，不过除了修复了一些Bug问题外Moblin2.1新增了大量的功能，包括新增了对3G的支持，另外网页浏览速度在支持插件的情况下也有了很大提升，支持蓝牙设备、更高的屏幕分辨率等。9月份时Intel曾表示Moblin 2.1还将推出手机版本，面向基于Atom处理器的手机平台，然而并没有提供手机版Moblin2.1的开发日程，但是透露Moblin 2.1正式版将在2010年下半年完成。有消息称Moblin2.1并不只是两个版本，除了手机版，当前版本还会分裂为上网本和Nettop两个版本。
不过目前这种分裂还没有出现，Moblin 2.1中首次明确加入了对Nettop的支持，Moblin项目委员会表示此次发布的新版本可支持多种类型的Nettop。下面来看一下Moblin 2.1的主要改进：
浏览器：Moblin 2.1采用了新的浏览器软件，除了提升了之前的浏览器性能还新增了对插件的支持。
3G数据支持：采用了爱立信的MBM 3G调制解调器，支持3G数据连接。
集成了应用程序安装器：新增了Moblin应用程序安装器，提供了Moblin Garage中的应用程序列表，用户可以直接选择并安装。
Clutter 1.0：采用了Clutter动画用户界面架构。
支持蓝牙设备：Moblin 2.1的工具栏中新增了一个面板，支持蓝牙设备的搜索和匹配，包括蓝牙音频设备、输入设备（键盘、鼠标）、OBEX文件传输以及在3G模式下的蓝牙手机。
连接管理器（ConnMan）：在性能和稳定性方面进行了大幅改进，新版ConnMan可以支持以太网、WiFi、WiMAX和3G。
支持Nettop：为形形色色的Nettop提供了用户界面缩放功能，Nettop用户可以根据屏幕分辨率调整用户界面。
IM即时通信客户端：改进了即时通信客户端的账户设置，并将其整合到ConnMan中，支持在本地网络与好友的透明连接。
输入法：输入法可适用于整个系统。
本地化：Moblin现在支持英语、巴西葡萄牙语、西班牙语、法语、德语、瑞典语、芬兰语、汉语、日语和简体中文、繁体中文。
此外，Moblin 2.1对很多关键技术组件的版本进行了升级，包括Linux内核版本升级为2.6.31、Intel Linux显卡驱动2.9、X Server 1.6.4和Mesa 7.6。

MoblinCore is the heart of the Moblin software platform. It provides afeature rich common base shared among form factor-specific platformimplementations, such as netbooks, MIDs, and automotive. Moblin Coreconsists of platform libraries and application services providing richfunctional platform building blocks. It does not provide applicationuser interfaces or specific user interaction shells. Such functionalityis provided by a platform-specific implementation, produced by Moblinor a third party.
Moblin Core is built on the GNOME Mobile
platform, extending and enriching it with Intel open source technologies like Clutter
, GUPnP
, and Atom specific technologies, such as graphics, fast boot, and power saving.

Moblin Core will follow the GNOME Mobile 6 month release cycle(starting with 2.26 in 2009) staying in sync, retaining compatibilityand contributing improvements back to the GNOME Mobile and Desktopplatforms. Moblin Core itself is expected to grow and mature as actualplatform implementations are created, starting with Moblin NetBook.
